With the explosive growth in the use of social networking and media comes the consideration for the use in firms in general, and salespeople in particular. Firms are uncertain about the fit between social media tools and their overall sales strategy. Social networking skills are becoming essential for personal branding, corporate and product branding. The paper attempts to address this issue by developing a theoretical framework to explain the mechanisms through which salespeople’s use of social media operates to create and deliver value, and propose a strategic approach to social media use in sales call.
